The Luxembourg Cluster Initiative is one key element of the National R&D and Innovation Policy which brings together various clusters and innovation networks established in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. It is an efficient instrument to concentrate resources and means in order to achieve a critical mass and to accelerate the transfer of knowledge and good practice.

The Luxembourg Cluster Initiative is animated by Luxinnovation, the National Agency for Innovation and Research in Luxembourg whose members are:

Luxembourg Space Cluster

The Luxembourg Space Cluster brings together renowned and highly specialised companies and public research organisations in order to develop specific technology topics as well as collaborative RDI projects. The Luxembourg Space Cluster focuses on the following thematic areas: Space telecommunications, Global Navigation Satellite System and Location based Applications, Earth observation, Maritime security and safety, Space related technologies. 

Official member of the European Space Agency (ESA) since 2005, Luxembourg provides excellent financial, operational and intellectual support and infrastructures in order to help Luxembourg-based companies and research organisations gain access to innovation within the space sector.

Luxembourg Materials Cluster

The Luxembourg Materials Cluster is a network that actively supports the various actors in the field of Materials Technologies in Luxembourg with the goal of creating and developing new and sustainable business opportunities through collaborative R&D and innovation projects.

The Luxembourg Materials Cluster currently boasts more than 60 companies and public research organisations involved in the field of materials technologies. Its activities include the organisation of regular networking events, themed conferences and workshops. The Luxembourg Materials Cluster also provides support for developing project ideas, identifying potential partners, finding suitable finance and protecting Intellectual Property.

Luxembourg EcoInnovation Cluster  

The Luxembourg EcoInnovation Cluster is an active network that supports the various actors of the eco-technologies sector in Luxembourg with the goal of creating and developing new and sustainable business opportunities through collaborative R&D and innovation projects.

The take-up of green technologies is empowered by an ambitious action plan, which Luxembourg has recently adopted in order to stimulate the production of eco-technology products and to support research and development in the environmental technologies field, thereby leading to greater sustainability and economic diversification.

Luxembourg BioHealth Cluster

The Luxembourg BioHealth Cluster is a network that brings together the major public and private stakeholders active in Health Sciences & Technologies in Luxembourg. It aims to foster partnerships and collaborations that favour innovative projects, thereby reinforcing and capitalising on the National Strategy developed to achieve scientific excellence in molecular medicine.

The core expertise and activities of the stakeholders of the Luxembourg BioHealth Cluster are in the field of molecular diagnostics. The Cluster also covers other business domains that are key elements in an integrated patient-based personalised medicine approach, such as bioinformatics, medical device and telemedicine. The main therapeutic areas covered include cancer (especially lung cancer), neurodegenerative diseases (such as Parkinson’s disease), life style-related diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases and, to some extent, infectious diseases.

Cluster for Logistics Luxembourg

The Cluster for Logistics - Luxembourg a.s.b.l. has been created in order to bring together all actors - companies, public research centers, institutions and government entities - with the objective of strengthening Luxembourg's position as a major intercontinental logistics hub in Europe for high added value services in logistics.

Within the framework of its economic development policy, the Luxembourg Government has chosen to concentrate its efforts on a few added value sectors offering high growth potential, such as logistics. The Cluster for Logistics fits perfectly into the Government logistics action plan.
